Workplace Statistics

Workplace statistics clearly spell out the issues employers have with relation to their employees.

  • Up to half of new employees haven't been meeting expectations over the past two years, say 32% of executives in the 2007 MAP (Management Action Programs) Quarterly CEO Survey conducted by Vantage Research.
  • 54% of employees are not engaged (happy) in their work, and 17% are actively disengaged, costing their employers $350 billion in lost productivity. (Gallup)
  • 62% of workers plan to look for a new job in the next 3 months. (Salary.com)
  • 1/3 of all new workers start to look for a new job on their first day of work. (Recruit Magazine)
  • The ones who are looking are high performers: nearly half of high performers are job searching, while only 18% of low performers look. (Leadership IQ)
  • More than half of employees' emotions toward work are negative and 1/3 are intensely negative. (Towers Perrin)
  • 21% of employees have witnessed peers abusing or intimidating other workers (Ethics Resource Center)
  • 24% of employees are stressed by difficult coworkers or interfering bosses (Careerbuilder.com)
